Welcome, we are glad that you have found our site. Our staff has gathered information on over 17000 landowners across the State of Texas that own over 46 million acres of hunting land. In the last 12 months we have listed over 6000+ available hunting opportunities. As a by product, we have become very good at finding leases. Below are some tips to help you find a place to hunt.
We search everywhere almost daily looking for ways to improve on our service. Truth is, our real job is looking for OIL & GAS mineral rights and the by product of being in constant contact with landowners is we get to ask them about the hunting rights as well. Because we do this as a normal course of business we believe that no one can deliver as much updated information about hunting leases as we can. We look forward to helping you find a place to hunt.
Below are some tips from our staff that may make your search in finding a lease a little easier:
Tip 1: Do not get dissappointed ! Even though it is the beginning of the new year, we are still finding leases available. But without question we see our best leases Between August and November. We have noticed that most landowners do not collectively start thinking about their hunting income until around September. Hunters who thought they or their buddies had their act together, can't come up with enough money to pay the landowner. That means another lease on the market. More leases on the market means more competition for your dollar. Lower Prices! I know I know it does not look like lower prices to most, but we have seen the average price for an annual lease statewide drop from $1500 to $1000 since January. Another fact. Our Hunting Lease Report averages around 150 leases each week in March compared with the our Mid-August average of 200+ leases.
Tip 2: Most things that you can get for free are not of much use.
(example: listings from most Chambers of Commerce and 90 % of most internet sites.)
Most internet sites that offer something for "free" are trying to attract your "page hit" so that they can sell advertising space.
Chambers of Commerce hunting lease lists are rarely if ever updated and mainly contain broker and guide information.
Tip 3: Any list or directory published Annually or Monthly has limited value. We know from our work that good leases do not last long. By the time we list a lease in our "HUNTING LEASE REPORT" to the time it is leased, is only 1-2 weeks.
Tip 4: Landowners and Lease Brokers want as little exposure to hunters as possible. Let's face it, leasing land for hunting is generally done for the income it provides, not because they enjoy having people with bows and guns running around in the "backyard". Very few need the hunters for "game managment", most landowners have plenty of friends to take care of that.
Tip 5: An "affordable" lease is dependent upon perspective. As an example, an average annual lease in the Hill Country of Texas with water, electricity and a cabin leased for $1000-1500 per gun. The costs to hunt in other states are considerably less to nothing at all. It is estimated that hunters using our "HUNTING LEASE REPORT" will lease the "bargain leases" within a couple of days of its being listed.
These are just a couple of tips that our staff has to offer, check back often for others and don't get depressed about finding a lease. We can do alot of the leg work for you. Over the last couple of weeks we have listed over 350 available leases in our "HUNTING LEASE REPORT" and our staff calls an average 300 landowners a week.
Below are a few of the most frequently asked questions, and our answers.
1.Where does your information come from?
We currently track and report on Oil & Gas Exploration across North America for a living, together with being in constant contact with Land owners from all over the states, my staff also researches all the metropolitan and small town newspapers every day. In addition, we are always talking to Parks & Wildlife game wardens, as well as Chambers of Commerce. This takes about 300 phone calls every week and we are still finding more everyday. I guess I am determined to become the HUNTING LEASE GURU.
2.What type of leases do you list?
Short answer: everything! If it is leased for hunting it is listed.
3.How come some of the leases cost so much?
Supply and demand. Too many hunters paying too much for land just because they are not patient enough. But cheer up, with a service like ours you will be able to find a lease you find is a value for the money.
4. We cant find a lease for just our family, where is all the land going?
Some is being leased up by Outfitters & Guides or not being leased for hunting at all, But still again, we say cheer up.
Over the last couple of years we have identified millions of acres available for hunting. No one anywhere has as much information as we do. We have the names, addresses and phone numbers. It is just a matter of time and your support to keep this list fresh.
5. How often do we update our HUNTING LEASE REPORT.
a. We update and publish the Hunting Lease Report every Monday and Thursday of each week. We receive lease information just about every day now.
6. Where does your information come from?
a. Everywhere that we can verify that the lease is currently available. We do not use Chamber of Commerce information unless we call the landowner and verify the lease is available. As a service to our customers we also include verified classified information from all the major metropolitan and small town newspapers.
Our best leases come from our in house efforts while surveying our Oil & Gas Industry contacts. FOR EXAMPLE: In Texas we currently have good hunting lease information on over 17,000 landowners with 200 acres or more (total acreage exceeds 46 million).
7. What is the average cost of a hunting lease?
a. No short answer here either but this is what we know.
For a year round lease with complete hunting privileges, water, electricity, good game numbers and dealing directly with the landowner. (Grass lessors and brokers increase the average) 150 acres per person. Remember that proximity to the metropolitan areas (2 1/2 - 3 hours) also is a major factor. Averages are as follows.
SOUTH TEXAS $2000 per gun
HILL COUNTRY $1600 per gun
WEST TEXAS $900 per gun
EAST TEXAS $650 per gun
NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS $1475 per gun
PANHANDLE $1000 per gun
8. Why don't you list the leases online, like other websites?
a. We have listed leases online for internet viewing in the past, unfortunately the people we work for (landowners) hated it. Hunters would call at all hours of the night and morning and the landowners would remove the listing from our service without having leased the property. In addition, if you will check, we are the only lease reporting service that updates daily. We remove leases that have already been leased, that saves you time, money and a lot of frustration. Remember, good leases only seem to last 3-5 days after being listed.
